If a function is non-linear, there must be an exponent in the equation. For example,
x^(2) or
x^(3\\).

Since this function has no exponent attached to the x-variable, we can assume this function is linear.

Based on the on the equation given: 9x + y = 12

The y-intercept will be 12.

To determine the x-intercept, we set y equal to zero and solve for x.

9x + 0 = 12

9x = 12 ⇒ divide both sides by 9

x = 1.333

Therfore, the x-intercept will be 1.33

Determine whether the equation 9x + y = 12 is linear. If so, graph the function.-example-1
