Divide the shapes into 2 rectangles and 2 triangles (see attached image).

Rectangle 1

Area of a rectangle = width × length

= 5 × 8

= 40 m²

Rectangle 2

Area of a rectangle = 9 × (6 + 8 + 5)

= 9 × 19

= 171 m²

Triangle 3

Area of a triangle = 1/2 × base × height

= 1/2 × (12 + 9 - 6) × 21

= 1/2 × 15 × 21

= 1/2 × 315

= 157.5 m²

Triangle 4

Area of a triangle = 1/2 × 9 × height

= 1/2 × 9 × (9 + 5 + 8 + 6 - 5)

= 1/2 × 9 × 23

= 1/2 × 207

= 103.5 m²

Total Area

Total area = 40 + 171 + 157.5 + 103.5

= 472 m²
