1. simplify the equation given

(4x - 6)(x + 5) = 15

4x^2 + 20x - 6x - 30 = 15

4x^2 + 14x - 45 = 0

2. find the discriminant (b^2 - 4ac); (a = 4, b = 14, c = -45)

14^2 - (4 x 4 x -45)

196 - (-720)

916

the discriminant is positive, so this equation has 2 real solutions
