1.Two children are playing tug-of-war. Kimmy pulls the rope north with 45 newtons and Joseph pulls the rope south with 60 newtons. The rope weighs 100 kg. What is the rope's acceleration?

2.A car is sitting motionless on top of a bridge. The bridge pushes up on the car with a force of 782 Newtons.
What force must gravity pull down on the car with in order to break the bridge? Explain how you determined your answer.

1. ∑F=m.a

60 - 45 = 100 . a

a = 0.15 m/s²

2. the force of pushing up canceled by the force of gravity pulling the car down, so the force must gravity pull down on the car > 782 N
