Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

New Orleans was a major city for trade, as it was one of the biggest American ports, and, as such a major meet-up place for many different cultures, including African-Americans. Free black people would come to this city looking for new opportunities and multiculturalism, and with jobs and homes, they found colorful culture, community, and fun time. Mixing up rhythms of their African roots with European instruments and various cultures that came to New Orleans (such as the Caribbean), the sound of what was called ragtime music blossomed, becoming later the instrumental part of jazz and one of the significant markers of the colorful city.
