There has been a massive shortage of peanut butter. In order to have enough peanut butter to make PB & j

sandwiches for the annual PB & J school ball, workers are salvaging peanut butter from Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
One "cup" is 88% peanut butter by mass. A Reece's "Cup" weighs 8.4 g. There are 23 Reese's Peanut Cups per bag.
Bags cost $5.99. How much is it going to cost to collect 600 pounds of peanut butter? 454 g= 1 lb

Answer:

1 cup = 8.4 g, 1 cup = 88% peanut butter

100% = 8.4 g

88% = x, where x is the mass of PB in the cup

x = (88* 8.4)/ 100

x= 7.392g

1 bag = 23 cups, 1 bag = $ 5.99

1 cup = 7.392 g of PB

23 cups = 170.016 g of PB by mass

1 bag = 170.016 g of PB by mass = 0.3745 lbs of PB

600 lbs = how many bags

= 600 lbs ÷ 0.3745 lbs

= 1602.15 bags

1 bag = $5.99

1602.15 bags = $9596.88

the cost for 600 lbs of PB will be $ 9596.88
