2x-13=15 is the equation. The number (x) is 14

Hi there!

Let the unknown number be c.

Twice a number means we multiply that number by 2:

2c

Now, subtract 13:

2c-13

This expression is equal to 15:

2c-13=15

As soon as I added the equal sign, and the number than the expression is equal to, the expression turned into an equation.

Now, let's solve it for c.

2c=15+13

2c=28

c=14
