The ratio between the number of red, green and blue marbles in a box is 2:6:5. How many marbles are in the box if there are 20 fewer red marbles than green marbles?

Answer:

65 marbles

Explanation:

2:6 = x-20:x using the information in the problem

2x = 6x-120, and therefore x = 30. 30 is the number of green marbles.

We can find that the multiplier is 30/6 = 5. So there will be 5*2 = 10 red marbles. 5*5 = 25 blue marbles.

30+10+25 = 65 marbles total.
