x = 2
Explanation:
Apply the distributed property: 12x - 18 - 8 = -2
Combine like terms: 12x - 26 = -2
Add 26 to each side, so it now looks like this: 12x = 24
Divide each side by 12 to cancel out the 12 next to x. It should now look like this: x = 2
