-18/3=-6
-6 mulitplied by 3 equals -18

y= -18
3/1*y/3=-6*3/1
inverse means opposite so you multiply by the opposite of y/3 which is 3/1 to just get y and what you do to one side, you have to do to the other which leads to your answer y= -18
