Explanation:

Before he saves 20% he had to pay 15$.

1) If the 20 percent makes her save 3$ than we have to multiply 3$ by 5 so the percentage would be 100

2) 5*3 = 15$

- Checking -

1) We do 100/15 so we can find the one percent.

2) The one percent is 0.15

3) We do 0.15 * 20 so we can find the 20 percent of the total money.

4) The answer is equals 3 which is correct.
