For example, if I text my crush the GIF is basically giving out emotion by using a visual, since more or less GIFS are basically short video clips/ photos without sound. If your happy, you send a GIF of someone jumping happily, same thing with other emotions. To conclude, GIFS express more emotion than a simple text message would.
