Answer:

x = 4, y = 2

Explanation:

The 2 equations are:

10x + 4y = 48 (1)
−2x + 10y = 12 (2)

multiplying (2) by 5 gives us
-10x + 50 y = 60 (3)

(1) + (3) will cancel out the x coefficients and gives us
54y = 108 or y =2

Substituting for y in equation (1) gives us

10x + 4.2 = 48 ==>

10x = 48-8 ==>

10x = 40 or x =4

Solve the following system of equations: 10x + 4y = 48 −2x + 10y = 12-example-1
