Since we know our times-8 and times-9 times tables, all the work is mental. There is nothing to show. Each number in the Dollars column is 8 times the number in the Hours column.

B) See the table on the right. Again, we know our times tables. 5*9 = 45, and so on.

C) 45 -40 = 5

Barbara earns 5 dollars more at the theme park for 5 hours' work than she does mowing lawns. (Check: The rate difference is $1 per hour, so the difference in earnings will be $5 for 5 hours.)
