Explanation:

Area if the wooden frame = ,Length ×Width

A = LW

If the length of wooden frame is 1foot longer than it's width, then;

L = W+1

Given

A = 12ft²

Substitute the derived and given parameters into the formula to have;

P = (W+1)W

12 = (W+1)W

Open the parentheses

12 = W²+W

Subtract 12 from both sides

12-12 = W²+W -12

0 = W²+W-12

Rearrange

W²+W-12 = 0

If W = x

The quadratic equation becomes:

x²+x+12 = 0
