Television sizes are determined by the length of their diagonal measure. Michael just bought a new television. The height of the television is 37 inches and the length is 71 inches.

Using the Pythagorean Theorem, what is the size of Michael’s new television? Round your answer to the nearest whole inch (whole number).

Part A we are given the legs and are looking for the hypotenuse

Part B 37^2 + 71^2 = c^2

Part C 37^2 + 71^2 = c^2

961+5041 = c^2

6002 = c^2

Take the square root of each side

sqrt(6002) = sqrt(c^2)

77.47257579=c

c = 77

Part D The size is 77 inches
