Answer:

D) 23 is NOT in the solution set of x − 8 < 14

Explanation:

x − 8 < 14

add 8 to both sides

x - 8 + 8 < 14 + 8

x < 22

- so x is anything under 22

- 22 is the max number

A) 17 less than 22, YES !

B) 19 less than 22, YES !

C) 21 less than 22, YES !

D) 23 less than 22, NO :D

23 is bigger than 22

Hope it helps :)

Which number is not in the solution set of x-8<14?

\rule{50}{1}\large\blue\textsf{\textbf{\underline{Answer and how to solve:-}}}\rule{50}{1}

First of all, We need to solve the inequality by adding 8 on both sides:-

\longmapsto\sf{x < 22}

Now, the numbers that make this inequality true are less than 22.

Since we're asked to find the number that's not in the solution set, we will do just that .

So the number not in the solution set is a number greater than 22.

The only number greater than 22 is:-

23

  • Henceforth, We conclude that the right option is:-

\longmapsto\underline{\boxed{\textbf{Option D}}}

Good luck with your studies.
