The sum of two numbers is 91. The greater number is 7 more than the smaller number. Which equation can be used to solve for the smaller number?

x(x + 7) = 91
x(x − 7) = 91
x + (x + 7) = 91
x − (x + 7) = 91

Answer: your answer for the smaller number is 38.5 and the larger number is 52.5.

Explanation:

To make sure it's right, I just add the numbers together.

Your Problem:

91 ÷ 2 = 45.5

45.5 + 7 = 52.5

45.5 - 7 = 38.5

52.5 + 38.5 = 91
