At the South Gwinnett High School game, 35 out of 50 people entered with a mask on, without being reminded at the door. If this sample is representative of the 250 people attending the game, about how many of them will probably be wearing a mask without being reminded?

Answer:

175 people

Explanation:

In order to calculate this, we first need to find out what percentage 35 out of 50 people actually represents. We do this by dividing 35 by 50 and then multiplying that decimal by 100% to turn it into a percentage like so...

35 / 50 = 0.70

0.70 * 100 = 70%

Now we know that 70 percent of the individuals did not have to be reminded of wearing a mask. If this percentage or ratio remains constant, then we can simply multiply the number of people at the game by this percentage in decimal format in order to calculate the total amount of people that will probably be wearing a mask.

250 * 0.70 = 175 people

There should be a total of 175 people wearing a mask without being reminded.
