First, we have to find how long it takes the train to travel 1 mile. we know it travels 25 miles in an hour (60 minutes). we can make that into a ratio: 25/60

to find how long is takes to travel 1 mile, divide each side by 25
25/25 / 60/25= 1/2.4 (1 mile in 2.4 minutes)

now multiply both sides by 65.8 (the distance we’re trying to find the time for): 1x65.8/2.4x65.8 = 65.8/157.92

so it takes 157.92 minutes to travel 65.8 miles. to make it into hours, simply divide the minutes by 60 (as there are 60 minutes in an hour): 157.92/60 = 2.623

so, the train can travel 65.8 miles in about 2.6 hours
