Answer:

the required equation

11x + 50 = 88.50

It cost $3.50 to rent a snowboard for an hour.

Explanation:

as given in the problem

cost per hour is x

that cost of one hour is $x.

Total hours Jared rented the snowboard = no of hours rented on saturday + no of hours rented on sunday

Total hours Jared rented the snowboard = 5 hours + 6 hours = 11 hours

total cost for x hour rent if cost of 1 hour rent is $x = 11*cost of 1 hour

total cost for x hour rent if cost of 1 hour rent is $x = 11*$x = $11x

Amount paid by Jared for pass = $50

Total cost incurred by Jarred = Amount paid by Jared for pass + total cost for x hour rent for snowboard

Total cost incurred by Jarred = $50 + $11x

given that In

total he paid $88.50 for the weekend

Total cost incurred by Jarred = $50 + $11x = total he paid = $88.50

Thus, the required equation

11x + 50 = 88.50

solving it

11x = 88.50 - 50 = 38.50

x = 38.50/11 = 3.5

Thus, cost per hour = x = $3.50

Thus, it cost $3.50 to rent a snowboard for an hour.
