We need a soccer team here in Sheffield. True, we tried it once with the Sheffield Sharkles. But soccer was new in the country back then, and

naturally it didn't draw the crowds that baseball and basketball did. Now soccer is much more popular. Every high school in town has a soccer team.
Grade school soccer draws crowds of parents and nelghbors every Saturday. The people of Sheffield understand soccer now. Surely we are ready as
community to support the excitement of our own city championship team!
Which is the purpose of the speaker here?
O 1. to persuade you to join a soccer team
2. to go to the soccer games in the town
3. to support baseball and basketball more
4. to gather support for another soccer team

Answer:

4: To gather support for another soccer team.

Step-by-step explanation:

1 is wrong, there is not even a team yet!

2 is wrong, they are focused on the school soccer team.

3 is wrong, they used basketball and baseball as an example showing how now soccer is more popular.

I hope that this helps! :)
