Rosaura is the second child of the de la Garza family. She is most similar to Mama Elena and the weakest of the sisters. She is also the least likeable from the readers perspective. Rosaura treats her daughter, Esperanza, how Mama Elena treats Tita. She makes her live a life of servitude. In this sense, she is very traditional; thus, the Mexican flag. Also, she has ideals of love and a perfect family, but what appears is not what she really has. Though she has a daughter and a husband in Pedro, Esperanza becomes close to Tita and Pedro and Tita are in love.
