Explanation:

A subset is a group of elements whose values were obtained from a larger set known as the universal set.

For example, say we have a universal set of all the numbers from 10 to 20

{10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20}

A subset of the even numbers include;

{10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20}

A subset of the odd numbers include;

{11, 13, 15, 17, 19,}

These figures in the subset were derived from the universal set which is the larger set.
