1. Bruno thinks it is unfair that Shmuel has many friends while he has none. What does this observation reflect about Bruno? How is this statement in conflict with the actual situation that Shmuel is in?

When Bruno finds that it is unfair that Shmuel has many friends and he has none, it shows how uninformed and clueless Bruno is about everything going on around him such as his fathers job and the camps the jews have been forced into. This statement is in conflict with the actual situation Shmuel is in because while there may be other kids in the camp that he could consider as his “friends,” he doesn’t get to build actual connections with others because the point of the camp is to basically put Jews to work and torture them. Where Bruno on the other hand thinks he gets to play with a bunch of other kids all day and have fun.
