(to group like terms)

6x-5 = -6x-12

___________ (addition poe) (add 6x on both sides to cancel -6 out)

12x-5 = -12

+5 +5 (addition poe) (add 5 to both sides to cancel -5 out)

12x = -7

÷12 ÷12 (division poe) (divide both sides by 12 to get x)

x = -7/12
