Natural selection favours those BEST ADAPTED TO THEIR ENVIRONMENT! You can be strong, fast, and intelligent but NONE of these attributes matter when it comes to something such as cold weather. The organism with long fur and little revealed skin would be favoured by natural selection, not the strongest.
