When he went out for a run, the chemical energy transformed into mechanical energy, which is a form of kinetic energy. The mechanical energy then transforms into thermal energy when he is running. While running his temperature started to rise which caused him to sweat. The energy in his system was conserved as it was transformed because the energy was constant. When the energy was being transformed between different types, the total amount of energy remained the same.
