Markdown by 50%= 0.50*64= $32

Additional discount by clearance sign 50% =0.50*32= $16

Therefore I disagree with Johnny. First the original price $64 was reduced by half of the price 50% of $64 =$32. Secondly the new price $32 is then also reduced by half of it 50% giving us $16. Therefore the discounts did not wipe off all the price as suggested by Johnny.
