The sum of three numbers is 123. The second number is 9 less than two times the first number. The third number is six more than three times the first number. Find the three numbers

Answer:

21, 33 and 69

Explanation:

x - the first number

2x - two times the first number

2x-9 - 9 less than two times the first number = the second number

3x - three times the first number

3x+6 - six more than three times the first number = the third number

The sum of three numbers is 123:

x + 2x-9 + 3x+6 =123

6x - 3 = 123

6x = 126

x = 21

2x-9 = 2•21-9 = 33

3x+6 = 3•21+6 = 69

Check: 21+33+69 = 123
