Given :

Cindy's house is 600 meters away. Jim runs as hard as he can with a speed of 5.3 m/s and Harry jogs with a speed of 8.2 m/s.

To Find :

How long will Harry have to wait for Jim when he gets to Cindy's house.

Solution :

Time taken by Harry to reach Cindy's house :

t_1=(600)/(8.2)\ s= 73.17\ s

Time taken by Jim to reach Cindy's house :

t_2=(600)/(5.3)\ s=113.21\ s

Time taken by Harry to wait for Jim is :

T =
t_2-t_1 = 113.21 - 73.17 s = 40.04 s

Hence, this is the required solution.
