A rectangular lawn has area 140 square yards. Its length is six less than twice the width. What are the width and length of the lawn?

Answer:

width = let width be w

area = 140

length = 2w-6

Area of a rectangle = l*b

⇒ 2w-6*w=140


2w^2-6=140\\2w^2 = 146\\w^2 = 146/2\\w^2 = 73\\w = √(73)
