I'm confused on this problem 2/3x-1=5

x=9

Explanation:

You add one to both sides, multiply 3 to both sides (to further isolate x), and then divide by 2 on both sides. When you substitute back in, both sides of the equation are equal to each other.

2/3x-1=5

Add 1 to each side

2/3x-1+1= 5+1

2/3x = 6

Multiply each side by 3/2

2/3x*3/2 = 6*3/2

x = 9
