Given -
- The dimensions of a rectangular dining room are 18 feet by 16 feet. i.e, length (l) = 18 feet and breadth (b) = 16 feet
- Scale factor of One-fourth is used to make a scale model of the dining room.
To find -
- the area of the dining room in the scale model (A)
Solution -
As we know, the area of rectangle = length of the rectangle × breadth of the rectangle
To state the dimensions of the scale model we will multiply 1/4 with the already given dimensions of a rectangular dining room. Hence, dimensions of scale model is 18/4 by 16/4.
Now,
Area = length × breadth
Area = 18/4 × 16/4 square feet
Area = 18 square feet
Therefore, the area of the dining room in the scale model (A) is 18 square feet.
