Why did britain issue the proclamation of 1763? how did it affect the colonists?

The proclamation didnt allow settlement west of a line drawn along Appalachian Mountains, which was delineated as an Indian reserve. The colonists were angry with it and felt as if they were being controlled , as well as them wanting to keep an eye one them. The colonists went against this law.
