The difference of a number and 6 is the same as 5 times the sum of the number and 2. What is the number?

The answer would be A. -4

Explanation:

If you right it out like x-6=5(x+2), then you distribute the 5, you get: x-6=5x+10. Then subtract x from both sides, you get: -6=4x+10. Subtract 10 from both sides, you get: -16=4x. The all you have to do is divide both sides by 4, and you get: -4=x
