The larger of two numbers is 15 less than two times the smaller number. If the sum of the two numbers is 63, find the LARGER number.

Answer:

Let x = the smaller number

Let 3x + 15 = the larger number

x + 3x + 15 = 63

4x = 48

x = 12

3(12) + 15 = 51
