Answer: x = 6

so you can create an equation to solve for x

12x−20 = 2x+40 Subtract 2x from both sides. Add 20 to both sides

10x = 60

x = 6

if you need the m∠1, Substitute 6 for x. (2x+40)° 2(6) +40= 12+40 m∠1= 52°

m∠8=(12x−20)° 12(6) - 20 = 72-20 m∠8 = 52°
