Please no plagiarism!! Why did increased contact with settlers lead to diseases in Native Americans?

Diseases like smallpox (which Native American tribes had absolutely no immunity to) were carried from European settlers to the Native Americans when they interacted with one another. The more contact the natives had with the settlers, the more likely they were to contract dangerous diseases. Many tribes faced great losses because of contracted smallpox.
