Given:

Initial height of tree =
7(11)/(12) foot

He cut
1(2)/(3) off of tree.

To find:

The remaining height of tree after cut.

Solution:

Initial height of tree is

7(11)/(12)=(7* 12+11)/(12)

7(11)/(12)=(84+11)/(12)

7(11)/(12)=(95)/(12)

He cut
1(2)/(3) off of tree.

1(2)/(3)=(1* 3+2)/(3)

1(2)/(3)=(3+2)/(3)

1(2)/(3)=(5)/(3)

Now,

Remaining height = Initial height - cut

=(95)/(12)-(5)/(3)

=(95-20)/(12)

=(75)/(12)

=(25)/(4)

=(6* 4+1)/(4)

=6(1)/(4)

Therefore, the remaining height of the tree is
6(1)/(4) foot.
