Answer:

height of water in the container is 3 cm.

Explanation:

Given;

A sealed rectangular container, measuring 4 cm by 8 cm by 16 cm

the height of the container is 16 cm, when filled with water at 4 cm level from the top, thus, the height of water in the container is (16 cm - 4cm) = 12cm

Volume of water in the container when it is sitting on its smallest face = 4 cm x 8 cm x 12 cm = 384 cm³

Volume of water in the container when it is sitting on its largest face = 8 cm x 16 cm x h

where;

h is height of water in the container

384 = 8 x 16 x h

384 = 128h

h = 384 / 128

h = 3 cm

Therefore, height of water in the container is 3 cm.
