Why was the Stamp Act repealed?

The colonists instituted a similar Stamp Act on British imported goods.
After meeting with some colonists, Parliament decided to repeal the original tax and then increase them to teach the
colonists a lesson!
The colonists retaliated by raising the prices on all their exported goods.
The colonists boycotted buying British goods and they wrote a letter to Parliament and the king protesting the act

Answer: British merchants and manufacturers pressured Parliament because their exports to the colonies were threatened by boycotts.

Explanation: The Act was repealed on 18 March 1766 as a matter of expedience, but Parliament affirmed its power to legislate for the colonies "in all cases whatsoever" by also passing the Declaratory Act.
