im supposed to solve this and usually ive been getting more slow at math and i used to be really great at it until my mind started flooding with thoughts and other things ever since i started getting into anime anyway the question i need to solve is -2(-4x - 8 - 3y) and i need someone to explain how i can use the distributive property to simplify it in an easy way

Because there is no sign before the parentheses, you have to multiply -2 by everything in the parentheses:

8x+16+6y

There are no minus signs anymore because -- (minus minus) wouldn't make sense and -÷-=+ (negative÷negative=positive)

I don't think you can solve 8x+16+6y, you can only simplify.
