Explanation:

When adding fractions you have to find a common denominator, the easiest way is to use the other number for it. So with
(x)/(2) you would multiply the top and bottom by 6, and with
(x)/(6) you would multiply both the top and bottom by 2. You should then have
(6x)/(12)+
(2x)/(12). You add the tops together which will leave you with 8x and the bottom stays the same. Then you multiply the the 2 by the 12, and when doing this the 12 will cancel out. leaving you with 8x= 24. Finally you divide 24 by 8 and X is 3.
