Explain the theorem used in solving for the range of possible lengrhs of the third side AB of ABC

The Pythagorean theorem is used when finding any sides of a triangle. The formula is (a times a )+(b times b)=(c times c). Please just plug the numbers in hear the c value has to be the hypotenuse. I can not give you the substituted formula if you say on AB
