Seventy percent of the class is present. There are 14 kids present. How big is the whole class?

we know that 14 is 70%, how much will it be for 100%? or namely the whole class?

\begin{array}{ccll} amount&\%\\ \cline{1-2} 14 & 70\\ x& 100 \end{array} \implies \cfrac{14}{x}=\cfrac{70}{100}\implies \cfrac{14}{x}=\cfrac{7}{10} \\\\\\ 140=7x\implies \cfrac{140}{7}=x\implies 20=x

Answer:

20

Explanation:

Find 30% of the class
then add it

30% x 14 / 70% = 6

6 + 14 = 20 kids
Hope it helped ! Have a nice day !
