Choose an equation that would be used to solve

0 = -x2 + 10X-8
(x + 25)2 = -8
O(x - 5)2 = 17
(x - 10)2 = 25

Answer:

(x - 5)² = 17

Explanation:

Given

0 = - x² + 10x - 8 ( multiply through by - 1 to clear the leading negative )

x² - 10x + 8 = 0 ( subtract 8 from both sides )

x² - 10x = - 8

Using the method of completing the square

add ( half the coefficient of the x- term )² to both sides

x² + 2(- 5)x + 25 = - 8 + 25

(x - 5)² = 17
