Answer:

base= 3

Explanation:

You need to work backwards to solve this problem

A= 1/2bh

with the information given, the equation should look like this:

12= 1/2b8

To get rid of the fraction, you flip it, and you multiply both sides by that (1/2 fliped is 2)

so 2* 12= 1/2b8 *2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

** You can see that the 1/2 and the two cancel each other out. This is why:

1/2* 2/1= 2/2

2/2=1

1 * b8 is just b8

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So now you have:

24= b8

you want to get b by itself, so you use inverse operations ( you divide both sides by 8)

24/8= b8/8

your final answer is 3=b

you can plug in 3 into the original equation to check your answer!!!
