Federalists believed in a stronger national government however, anti-federalist feared that the national government would have too much power. The anti-federalist preferred a weak government and wanted the Bill of Rights. Also, federalists feared people rising against the government.

Federalists believed that a stronger national government would improve relationships between states and help create, as the Constitution stated, a “more perfect union.” Anti-Federalists, on the other hand, worried that a federal government with more power would be prone to tyranny.
