This is because A^2 + B^2 = C^2 therefore 8^2 + 7^2 = 113^2 you would then square root to get 10.6

Using the Pythagorean theorem:

c = sqrt(8^2 + 7^2)

c = sqrt(64 + 49)

c = sqrt(113)

c = 10.6
